	Platteklip Gorge is the safest, most direct route up Table Mountain. Although this mighty chasm, that splits the front of Table Mountain, is best attempted only by the fittest of hikers in the coolest part of the day as the route includes 1800 steps! The well signposted Platteklip route starts at Tafelberg Road, one-and-a-half kilometres further on from the lower cable station, at a concreted pool. As the footpath rises, so the gorge narrows and steepens, until the cliffs close in to form a narrow gateway for the final ascent to the summit plateau. An easy route down is along a well-marked path to the cable station… but don’t leave it too late, darkness comes quickly to that side of the mountain. http://www.tablemountain.net/
